FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
VACANCY NO:  FSS/ PSY 3/ 2016 
LECTURER     (Re-advertisement)
Duties: The successful applicant will be expected to: (i) teach any undergraduate Psychology courses; (ii) supervise students’ research projects; (iii) conduct research in his/ her area of expertise; (iv) provide service to the university, profession and community, and (v) carry out any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements:
 The applicants should have; (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in Industrial/ Organisational Psychology from a recognized University or institution with accredited Psychology programmes; (ii) an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (with a single or double major in psychology: e.g. Bachelor of Psychology, BA or BSc in Psychology combined or single major) from a recognized institution with at least a 2(i) pass; (iii) show evidence of engagement in research and service. The following will be added advantages: a strong methodological and statistical component at Masters’ level; conducted empirical research with a thesis as a component of the Master’s Degree; a PhD in Industrial/ Organisational Psychology; a good record of research and publications in refereed and reputable journals and journal outlets; academic leadership; teaching experience at a tertiary level or comparable institution.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR   (Re-advertisement)

The Department of Psychology was only established in 2004 and is, therefore, looking for an innovative psychologist who can assist in developing psychology as an academic and professional discipline in Botswana.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach psychology courses; (ii) provide clinical supervision to students; (iii) supervise research projects; (iv) initiate, promote and participate in research; (v) provide academic leadership through programme development, clinical consultation, and research; (vi) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vii) raise / solicit research funds from funding agencies within and outside the country; (viii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department; (ix) carry out any other responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements:
 Candidates should have (i) at least a Master’s Degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology from a recognized university or institution with accredited Psychology programmes; (ii) an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (e.g. Bachelor of Psychology, BA or BSc in Psychology combined or single major) from a recognized institution with at least a 2(i) pass or equivalent; (iii) at least 5 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iv) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed journal articles in Psychology discipline; lead and/ or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) the following will be added advantages: an earned Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counselling Psychology; at least one year supervised internship; registered or eligible to be registered with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC); experience in supervising students’ research projects and clinical work. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.

Role Summary
The hospital requires a pool of 30 registered Locum Nurses to provide pre-operative care to patients, communicate pertinent information and participates collaboratively in patient care planning. Key Work Output and Accountabilities
Practice Quality patient care according to his / her Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities as per Nursing and Midwifery council of Botswana
Carry out all unit related duties as assigned by Unit Managers
Contribute to the holistic care of patients
Active Participant in the handover Process
Effective communication with patients regarding their care
Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors
Execute all procedures according to Lenmed / hospital standards

Inherent Requirements
Graduated from an approved Diploma or Baccalaureate Nursing Program
Minimum of 3 years working experience
Valid Nursing Practicing Licence
Good communication skills
Good presentation skills
Customer Service Oriented
Good infection Control
